Kallio Construction LLC is founded on resilience, embodying the true essence of Sisu.

With fourteen plus years of construction experience, from being in the field and the office, the Kallio Construction team is lead by Mike Sanders. Kallio isn't just the name of the organization but represents a story that is near and dear to the hearts of the partners. Mike's grandmother, known as Maiju, provided many around her with motivation, insight, wisdom and timeless stories. One of her favorite stories to tell was the one where she conquered the Finnish mountains, losing her purse during the climb. A woman faced with unbelievable medical challenges, she still never gave in, challenged to learn to walk again on multiple occasions-she still never gave in, to seeing children or young adults struggling on the streets of her neighborhood and providing them shelter, love and support-she never gave in. Maiju defined what Sisu means, by conquering that mountain, to learning to walk again, to never taking no for answer and helping those in need. In honor of Maiju and the impact she made the company gained its name Kallio - Finnish word for rock or cliff face, to represent the mountain range Maiju conquered all the way down to representing how Maiju was the rock/foundation for those around her, as well as representing the cliff face of the mountain where Maiju stood and gazed over the beauty to which was the Finnish mountain range.

Here at Kallio we bring that same grit and tenacity to the construction industry with implementing LEAN Construction and Six Sigma ideologies across our projects. These methods afford us the ability to define waste early in the process to drive cost down and quality up, it affords us to see constraints through out the project and provide us effective ways to continuously improve, because status quo is not good enough.
